lol. Funny though i'm fairly sure the cockroach nuke thing is a big fat urban legend. I'm SURE i read quite recently that they actually have one of the lowest tolerance level for rad.

If its put into a hollywood movie enough it become truth! Like the 40 round capacity of those semi auto pistols all the good guys seem to use ;)

LOL... yeah how come the bad guys always get the reject guns with the bent barrels that can't seem to hit anyone even at point blank range even with 40 rounds... whereas the good guys can drop a crook with a single pistol shot from 1/2Km away LOL

The way I'm handling the water depth issue is to use a fish tub that is contantly overflowing as water is pumped around. It drains into a sump that can hold all the water that the grow beds would need to be completely full. There are four small beds each with their own loop siphon, and two continuous pumps. They naturally have their own timings, and it happens but is very rare that all four are full of water at the same time. The majority of the time they would be an average of 1/2 full 1/2 empty. The downside of the sump is that it takes up space and costs some $, although Janet gave me a good deal on mine. Even without the sump if you could divvy up the beds with individual siphons that would alleviate the need for a sequential fill; just allow them to have naturally random timings. 9 beds running with random siphons would average 1/2 the water level drop than filling them all at the same time.

VB, here is the info on greenhouse film. It is talking about the how much light it lets in not the uv it keeps out.

Solarshield
(Greenhouse Film)
Solarshield is a reinforced Greenhouse film. The reinforced cover consists of thin strips of clear plastic, woven together to make a sheet, similar to a woven weed matting (but clear). This resultant sheet is then laminated with a thin layer of plastic on each side. In the case of a white cover, one of these layers is coloured white. The high strength and tear resistance comes from the strength of the woven inner scrim. Unlike extruded covers, the material can be sewn into fitted covers and have pockets and eyelets etc fitted.

Solarshield is usually welded into ‘made to measure’ covers for hothouse roofs.
Solarshield carries a 5 year UV Warranty.

Solarshield Natural 87.9% of light in (approx) 1.83, 2.05, 2.7, 3.1M cut & welded to order
White 50% of light in (approx) 1.83, 2.05, 2.7, 3.1M

Solarfilm Natural 87% of light in (approx) 5.5, 7.5, 11, 13, 15M cut & welded to order
White 50% of light in (approx) 7.5, 15M

Rupertofoz and dthawk I will post the layout of the green house soon.

aha - light in, not light out. That now makes sense. The thought of having that type of fabric instead of the exctruded stuff is very tempting. Is this what the greenhouse you costed has on it?

Here is the layout of my greenhouse with my 2 proposed systums. The green house 12m x 4m.
The fish tank is 3000 L, but fish density will be for 2500 L. The Growbeds are the same as Les (aka EKB), split into 2 nodes and cycled seperatly. The round tank is for yabbies (Redclaw) with a custom made growbed of 2160 L. Both systems will have 500 L sumps.
