There appear to be some upgrades in the works...

Plan is to add a separate system for my partner to get into this AP caper. One full IBC FT and one third IBC for a FT on top.

She has of course jumped the gun a little and bought 10 Koi before we lifted a shovel, so they're currently living in a floating colander in one of my FTs.

Worryingly though, she has nabbed the sunniest part of the back garden, so it should do well in wintertime.

Well that's your fault for leaving it vacant.... :D

Busy day today...

Sarah (and Mum) dug a hole while I was out racing the WRX (which seems like a decent deal to me)...

Ended up keeping the IBC lower tray and resting the IBC cage on that, rather than a couple of bricks which I did previously.

Regardless of her impatience, it appears to be level and straight.

Pumped a few hundred litres of water from my other system into this, and then gave the 6 Koi their new home.

All in all, not a bad weekend.

Ate my first Broccoli out of my system this morning. Pretty damn tasty - no need to rinse, just snipped the head off as it was still covered in dew.

Appears to have set some side shoots too, so I might get another snack out of it.

Got a bit done on the weekend, it turned out pretty well.

Ended up going with a 50/50 mix of pea gravel and hydroton in the GB.

Cheers. I'm hoping this system cycles up pretty quickly since all the water has come from my existing system. We'll see.

Planted a few things yesterday so it's all systems go.

Well, the new system appears to have cycled up already. Suppose it helps that all of the water came straight from my other system.

10 Koi are looking very happy in their new home. Not sure how fast they grow, but we'll see.

Still planning on adding an extra bag of Hydroton, just to fill the bed properly. Am doing without an air stone in there for the moment, but I might need to look at that when the fish get a bit bigger.

Running constantly flooded, so there's a fair bit of water flowing around the place.

All good!

So, back to my system - it's great to have a fully cycled, mature system. I checked the water a moment ago since I'd fed the Trout a heap of food throughout the day. No detectable Ammonia or Nitrites and pH looking good.

Pretty happy with that.

There is one odd thing through - some of my Broccoli (or are they brussell sprouts?) look a bit pale, but others look great. Not sure how that's possible since there's heaps of water flow and they're sitting next to each other so they get the same amount of sun.

Any ideas?

They both look like a deficiency. Probably nitrogen.
Maybe one is worse because of where it is in the bed and the outlet/inlet?
