They are 50mm thick hardwood planks. I got them from a local soil yard

Yep plenty happening out there. Slowly planting out every spare space in the flower garden with vegies and garlic etc. Also been making a batch of compost tea each weekend to water out Sunday evening on the dirt veg and fruit trees

The stupid things that can happen eh. Get home tonight to hear the pump sucking air and the sump dry. Looked all around the system and no leaks visible. Looked in the tank and the air stones were running apart from the airlift one. The tube had broken down on the ground and the water had siphoned out of the tank all day. A 4mm drain had taken 6-800L out over the day

Side note, Laguna pumps are tuff. This one has been in this situation about three times now and the one in the ibc system the same, and they are still going

Thats insane! what are the odds. My air pump seems to loosen the air tubes of its nipples everynow and then.

If the air pump fails or like my situation the air line breaks below the level of the tank , then the air tube turns into a siphon. I noticed the sump getting a bit low last night but put it down to the tank lid and cover hanging low on one side and again siphoning water out. I didn't notice the broken air line so its been siphoning for :dontknow:

Having gravel/rock paths around the aquaponics is a downfall in this situation as you don't see the wet spot. :(

Well human error >>> pump fail overnight.
Left the top up hose in the sump and pulled the hose off the rainwater tank tap and of course the sump siphoned dry out of the hose

Rushed trip to plumbing shop and now the spare Laguna 9000 is in there. Lots of blowback into the sump now  :)
