thats some serious air!

sounds like something on your PC, JIM!

try xoftspy

Its not free but...............well read between the lines.

It is THE BEST anti-spyware program i have ever used. It picked up a couple of banker trojans once that NAV missed completely and also ridded my PC of bravesentry and another piece of persistant spyware that i spent days trying to remove.

Jim I've PMed you.....

To others.... these links download "joke.exe" or "clip.exe" respectively....

Didn't trial "joke.exe" but tried "clip.exe"....
installs a Trojan Horse called "Generic3.FKN" and installed "Shopathome" spyware...

Quote:
a Winsock 2 Layered Service Provider that redirects visits to merchant sites in order to take the affiliate fees from them automatically

Can totally usurp and disable your internet connection....

"Spybot" is the best tool for removal that I know of... Steve's product may also be as good....

DO NOT CLICK ON THE URL LINKS contained in the "quote" in Jims post!!!!

To everyone in general... please keep your virus definitions up to date, regularly scan your system and please install some form of anti spyware software such as "AdAware", "Spybot" or "XoffSpy" like Steve suggested.

Having said that... I make 90% of my money from cleaning up these kind of infections... damn

Jim, can you de-activate those links so no one clicks on them? I nearly did out of curiosity before I read Rupert's warning. Eeeek!!

yep, I already did thi9nking that there was no way Jim would put anything dangerous in his postings. Now know it wasn't intentional, but luckily I had antispyware and my screen went orange and i don't think I have suffered any. Mind you I am a bit of a puter newbie so I am just hoping I clicked the right buttons to avoid the downloads

rupe, i've fallen victim to the winsock layer problem. even tried a complete "over the top" windows re-install (you know, the cd-recovery one) nuthin!

had me stuffed until i downloaded some registry keys that reset the winsock layers.

was a curly problem!

if anyone would like to try the xoftspy you might be able to find copy somewhere...................................................................

Good to hear Jim... did you remember to "immunize" when you setup "Spybot"???....

If not.. do it next time you check for updates... suggest check updates and scan weekly.
