didn't know it existed until after I had sent the steel to the bender
I have the contraption at home now. Will take a pic in the morning. I am going to use it to bend the feet on my arches straight (which the rolling guy was supposed to do) :withstupid: . You guys don't have stobie poles in Qld, do you? :? This thing locks onto the stobie pole, and you put the pipe through a gap it leaves and lean on it and feed it through bit by bit. I will have a go with it in the morning and update then. The bonus of having something like this is you don't need a second person and you have more control of the bend.(apparently) :)

Sorry VB. It's a South Aussie electricity pole. Kind of like a ...

just did the bolt outside, it's like 1 degree absolutely freezing outside, took a photo here it is (hope no neighbours saw me, they think I'm crackers enough as it is without taking photos of stobie poles in the middle of the night!)

Our electricity pole- strong as hell, yet they bed over when people drive into them... Concrete with a huge I beam either side.....sort of...

lookslike a RSJ filled with concrete, Bloody better than our wood poles that either have to get replaced becasue they rot, or thhey are so full of CCA treatment they are bright green. Funny how different ways of soing things stay confined to the individual state!

If one was to use a tunnel green house, should an end or a side face North?

I'd say side

The sun sits lower in the northen sky during winter and tracks east to west, so by my logic a long north facing wall would have the most sun exposure.

Steve's right. I have 2 sides taking the midwinter suns arc, but they are equal length. On taking valued room. It is possible to put beds or towers directly over a portion of the pond. Beds on legs reinforced at the ends with wood braces angled 45 degrees from base of legs into centre. Towers you'd want a strong ceiling and suspend them. I love the idea of my greenhouse with a seat in winter. Chilling with the fish....

Hope they like tomato smoke rofl.

Steve, somewhere in one of your posts to or from Aquaadict you spoke of the return water frothing or foaming being an indicator of some water condition ?????? I searched but cannot find the post (I hope I am not dreaming)
What was that in relation to ?

Muzz

My return water was causing frothy bubbles, and steve and aa reckon it was excess proteins, everything seems fine , no deaths, happy fish and new growth on the fern... Maybe this is the same for yours???

Twas I. It's just organic content, protein and the like. If it is lots it could be running rich but with a waterfall there's always some bubbles. You can siphon it off directly if it bothers you.

I used to get more after harvest add a few plants watch it go down again...

We're talking bubbles, not scummy froth like a stormy ocean edge. If it is scummy froth you're doing something dodgy.

AA, did you not mention once that it is also a sign of high nitrates?

If you did then this may be muzz'a problem, i don't think he has many plants.

I fitted a brand new jebo cannister filter (100lt/hr) to the 200 Lt aquarium that i had all the jades in before i moved them. It now houses 6 jades, a silver, three yabbies and a handfull of convict cichlids (which by the way are breeding under a log. They are incredible. its so funny to see them "going" the silver which is 10x its size, and also confronting the yabbie when he wanders near its log). Any way, i think i posted a picture of the water quality insode the tank ages ago, it looked like the murry river. Thought i'd keep a few of the natives inside and make it look respectable with the new filter.

The fish did not like it at all! They used to swim around happily. Now they cower in the corner unless the lights are off! I've put a large planter pot in there to give them some cover. They much prefer the murky water, or maybe they just got used to it.

Interesting...............

Well, they're probably used to high turgidity levels. Is that mechanical filtration?

Or.... Do you have a cat? Mine terrorises my kokopu if left alone smacking the glass everytime they come near it.

They hide a lot.

Thanks Steve , Monya , Aquaaddict, Just loads of bubbles, like soap bubbles, must be too much protein..... Fish are happy ... I do not have many plants at all, just one strawberry tower which is going very well..... leaves are very dark green and loads of flowers and small fruit forming.

The one strange fish I have that is much bigger than the others, fat, very round, wobbles when it swims.
I caught it last night to take a look, thought it may be a goldfish as I had some feeder goldfish in the tank to start with, and I thought perhaps I may have missed catching one when I took them out a couple of months ago, but the mystery fish turns out to be an obese Silver Perch, really doing very well.
So what about the theory that Jades grow much faster that Silvers??? Perhaps this one is just a freak.

Thanks for the good info guys, the Forum is great, when one needs some help, there it is.....
Mojo
