I have a tank with about 50 2-3 month old tilapia fingerlings in and some of them keep making a funny movement. They sort of semi-turn on their sides and swim round the tank really quickly and then turn back up again and act fine. I don't know what this is... is it bad or good and am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for any help.

A pic of your system might help. We need to know all the dimensions and parameters of your set up and water quality. Lots more information required.

It never hurts to salt up just to be safe.

Do you have a light on the side of the tank, I find when I have a light on the side of the tank that sometimes the fish swim as if that was up.
