Here, as commercial aquaculturists you can keep maron one side of the Albany Highway, but not the other. (I think it was Marron).

Go Steve........ :D

Yeah, what he said......!

I've used a fair bit of water getting to where I am, but I feel that the end justifies my means, and I'll be keen to debate it with any government department who cares to...

Tomorrow I am paying $320 of my money, to have 6 x 1000L water storage units (bulka bins) delivered. Second hand recycled goods to store water in, for my systems... With another 4 or 5 more due in the next couple of weeks, I don't got no guilty consciense..... :D

founf this about red claw
"They have been stocked into Tinaroo Falls Dam (Atherton) under permit. Stocking of this species outside its natural range is not permitted. Several populations have established through the accidental introduction of redclaw into impoundments."... tinaroo is just around the corner and over the hill from cairns

I believe the saying you are looking for is: It is easier to ask for forgiveness, than permission.

I think I will follow that one - now, to get some redclaw, about which I know 'nothing'...

Just been reading up on the fishing laws for queensland - and the buggers have banned using explosives to catch fish - well there goes a good idea!

Spoke to the people at DPI&F yesterday and got some info for aquaponics....
First, I was impressed that they knew what aquaponics is -
Anyways, they said that if you intend to keep fish which is NOT for resale in any way what so ever, then you will not need a licence, and that goes for red claw and barramundi (I only asked about local species)... however, they did say that you had to keep the reciepts from where ever you bought your fish/red claw as proof that you did not just go out and snag some from a local stream or dam (which apparently is not permitted)

Forgot to mention that you have to then purchase your stock from a regestered aquafarm/breeder etc too
