New inhabitants have arrived, thanks to Troutman Gav. 20 rainbow trout in the FT and 20 silver perch fry in the ST. The trout have been sulking at the bottom of the tank and not taking any food yet - hopefully that's just transportation stress.

I also built some anti-cat doors on the ST to give the perch some protection.

All the plants are doing okay, except for the sugar snap peas. I've never had any success with these ... any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong?

well peas don't like acid or too much nutrients. they don't like it too wet either. Thats my experience from dirt gardening.

Your ones look like they have dried out or got some disease. Not powdery mildew or too much humidity?

Thanks Jay. Could be too much nutrients or water. I've been spraying it daily with seasol and my system is CF. I'll hit them with some milk mix anyway.

Peas don't like wet leaves.
but that looks like its dying from the bottom up, almost like drying out.

did you notice anything on the leaves as they were dying?

Nothing out of the ordinary, but definitely starts from the base and works its way to the tips.

Posting externally is fine within context, provided it is not a blatant or underhanded attempt to promote or direct traffic to the other sight for commercial gain.

I've run mine at 3ppm salt too, but it was dying before I added the salt.

I bought some full cream milk today, but it looked too far gone so I pulled it out instead.

How do you all test salinity?

Erm, I guesstimate.

Salt added in grams / water volume in litres = ppm. So 3kg salt in 1000l tank = 3ppm.

Btw Gavin suggested I salt my system to help keep the silver perch fry alive through the winter. Helps stave off diseases and other nasties.

He also said most plants can handle 3ppm, except for strawberries.
