Exactly what stock density are you going aiming for? If you know the density, then you'll know the O2 requirement, then you'll have a better idea of how much O2 you need to get dissolved in the water and therefore the best method to achieve this. Also, what is the water temperature range you're expecting?

I seen one pound a gallon but it was liquid oxygen injected with a drum filter then a biofilter

But that's a full blown commercial aquaculture operation... and on the suffocating edge....

Backyard aquaponics is a totally different story...

I'd be curious what "other" species they were using...

Whereabouts did you see this system??

Hey you guys,

Check this out:

Algal Reactor for Life Support Systems

http://cedb.asce.org/cgi/WWWdisplay.cgi?7000907

Could a reactor like this be used with a light on to constantly make oxygen day and night? An appropriately sized reactor could produce enough oxygen which can then be injected into the water column.

"A net production of 500 g to 600 g of dry algae per man per day is required for oxygen regeneration, CO2 absorption, water regeneration, nutrient removal and organic waste treatment"

I wonder what that converts to for fish?

Just go to your url address bar... highlight the address... copy it... and paste it in a post...

We'll explain how to embed the youtube video in a post later....

Is this the video?

1:50 for stocking density and mention of liquid oxgen

Skip to 3:33 for fish species.

4:45 for drum filter.
