I decided to start this new thread to post pictures of my system as it develops.

At this stage the plan is to run:

2 fishtanks
3 IBC growbeds like the ones in the basic IBC build where you cut an IBC and flip one half to be a growbed
1 inground IBC sump
1 DWC bed

Thus far I have begun digging the hole for the sump. It's not easy.

After 3 hours of solid digging with a jackhammer and spade attachment I'm 90cm deep at the lowest point. This isn't easy.

Do you own, or did you rent the jack hammer?

I bought it... it cost me slightly less than it would have to hire a mini excavator for a day. I imagine a mini excavator would have trouble with this clay. I could be wrong though

Also I don't have the appropriate licence to use a mini excavator so jack hammerin' I go

i've dug stump holes for extensions in dirt like that. I think we got about a shovel down, then filled the holes with water and came back the next day.

Man that looks like hard digging. I was always taught to fill the pre determined area with water to soften the soil before digging... even if you have to refill the hole every foot or so.

I made a video showing how hard the ground was. ill post it later
