I live in the Catskill Region of New York and am trying to set up an outdoor system in a green house. I would like to be able to cycle as far into the winter months as possible. Does anyone have any tips on the required sturdiness of the shelter needed and heating methods? I heard a solar heater and one HPS light should be sufficient for one or two ibc fts and 3-4 grow beds

I think Murray was unhappy with his rocket stove. Overnight heating is a problem as you have to keep replenishing the fuel. Last I heard he was returning to gas and even considering electrical heating.

My suggestion is to also check gas heating and maybe some solar options. If you build a greenhouse you can also check out solar greenhouses where they also use a water mass (in drums) to keep the temp stable overnight.

Regards, Martin.

Put a auto fed hopper on the rocket mass heater and use wood chips and u won't have to feed the fire at night time or u could make and drip plate type waste oils burner and put it in the fire mouth of the rocket mass heater but u might need a longer flute to draw the flame throught it
