I have a recuring leak in my system that i cant seem to resolve so i want to cut the top of the fishtank IBC off, however its only got about 6-7 inches of clearence and i cant take it apart. Any one know any good, easy reliable and preferably quick means to cut the IBC in such a small space.

Well its not easy, or quick, but a razer or exato knife if reliable

Reciprocating saw?

Jigsaw or a smaller angle grinder.

Jig saws too tall, Just barly but none the less. I had thought of a Angle ginder but alas i dont have even a large one.

Small hand saw eg Panel saw

Hot knife?

Piece of stainless wire hooked to a battery. Cut many sheets of plexiglass this way.

If you have one, a Dremel will cut it but much slower than a reciprocal saw.

Thought about that, but id be there all day with as much as id need to cut. just mucling thur with my dull one is faster.

Hmmm, thats interesting, but i dont have stainless steel wire or a spare batery...with a plug in battery charger for a car and aluminum wire work?

Not sure the aluminum wire might break, and not sure about a charger. I doubt the charger would work, because if they don't sense a battery they don't put out any power. Hook a multi meter to one and it won't show any voltage. At least mine doesn't.

There are so many things around the barn i may very well have some steel wire and not know it. as for the charger its one of those big ones that rolls like a suit case and has the gient gator clamps on it, and its rather old so i doubt theres any real sensors in it.

I use one of these - there are many brands of Oscilatting multi-tools. I went for this one because it is battery powered so more mobile for use in corners, down the yard etc.

Cutting blades can be fastened on almost any angle and it comes with sanding accessories as well so any sharps or roughs can be smoothed.
