Hi tragic in your output line from the pump put 2 taps on a tee one back to the spar one to the grow beds then you can direct water where you want start with them both open and then close one a bit i would direct fish water back in via the spar jets just cut back a bit fish will love the swirling water

Hmmm,if bypass runs back to tank, i don't need a bubbler.

Had a chat to a local aquarium guy last night. Was talking 5 bucks for SP fingerlings. Think i can source them for about a buck tho. He was pretty full on about my 1000 lt tank needing its water changed 3-4 times/hr, ie 4000lt/hr pump. This sounds a lot. Guess he was coming at it from his side where water has to be perfect all the time in 40-50 lt fishtank systems otherwise it turns to crap in a hurry.

exactly, no bubbler required.

Also, most fish only people will give you the 4 change overs per minute and water changes line.

Not nocking it, its probably true for a fish only system, but most BAP'ers have a HUGE biofilter (their gravel beds) and the water change outs the [plants take care of ;)

Thanks all, pic of pump, filter and what looks like some sort of breather/overflow pipe which i can't put my finger on. (The upside down u shaped thingy next to the fence.) The pump is a Demon 750W 2813rpm barnburner! Tim the Toolman would be in heaven. Talk about O2 exchange overkill.

Was gunna take a punt at that FF. Looks like i need to do sum more reading.

Newsflash, my back fence neighbour who gave me the 2- 250 lt drums last wknd, has just lobbed on the doorstep with 4-225 lt blue drums and wait for it, one of those 1000lt drums inside the frame thingys. Can you believe it? He gets the gold star and the elephant stamp and goes straight to the top of my christmas card list. He doesn't drink so i am gunna have to do something else for him. Also let it slip he was a plumber in a past life. Have i died and gone to heaven or what!

He mentioned the drums contained acrylic acids which are not quite as nasty supposedly. I will split them, wash them and leave them in the weather for a few weeks i think.

I don't even know enough to draw a plan yet FF but will use the spa, stuff is already connected and just needs some mods.

g06, this neighbour is my new best friend and by the end of the year he will be begging me not to give him lettuce and another 500gm silver!

Mate - I'd give that pump the miss. Buy something more suitable for the purpose - you will pay for it in the end through electricity savings. Might even be able to sell the pump.

Thanks FF, i guess things will kick off quicker if i am buying bigger fish. If i can get 50 for around 100 bucks dats ok cause i have not spent anything on tanks, pumps yet. It just seems to be falling out of the sky for free at the moment and i am a bit overwhelmed.

My 13yo daughter Jaymie. So switched on she actually asked me did i want to crop them out! By the way, feel free to send sum of dat rain down here, we are starting to forget what it looks and feels like.

VB, i have no real knowledge here. Don't mind buying a more suitable pump. Would prolly hang on to the spa pump for the next BIGGER system, when i prove this starter one to she who must be obeyed. Do you think if i put a timer on the existing pump, i could save myself some dosh or should i just buy a smaller pump?

File comment: Go back to my first page pics. GB's are behind spa with extra GB's at front left and right. Actually 4 GB's planned at rear, not 3 as shown. Total GB area, .75sq mt or .75 to 1.
