So if you know two of the details you can figure out the other.
Remember that often the actual amount of power or current pulled is going to vary depending on the load put on the pump. Anyway, if you know a pump is 100 watts and 12 volts. Well the math says it will be 8 1/3rd amps. See at lower voltage the amperage is likely to be higher and hence why 12 volt systems need to use heavy wire to get enough current through to do the job.

Sorry here is me treating wiring like plumbing I guess.

Hello, wow am I excited because I am about to start my first AQ system, but I have some questions as a newbie. 1. The I have just acquired 2 -4*4*6 grow beds and live in Modesto area of Ca. To save frustration I would like to know how much water I need to rise and fall both bed and raise fish for a family of 5 with room for expansion. We are big believers in grow our own produce. We would like to make the system blend in as much as possible and still use gravity as a way of moving the water down to the fish. It gets pertly hot in the summer here and I was thinking I should put the fish in a ground pond or dig a container in the ground. 2 where can I get one of those fancy water tanks that are seer rounded by metal cages in my area ? Thank you for taking the time out of your busy days and to help keeping this blog up, menu thanks,.....!..... Markatrog

We need more info for question 1. How much fish do you consume as a family of five, what are the air temperatures during winter. These two things will determine which fish you can keep, and how many of then u have to keep at one time to provide for the family, which in turn will determine you tank volume and required growbed volume, which in turn will give you the total volume....any sump you use should be AT LEAST 50% the volume of ur growbeds.

For question 2, those tanks are call IBCs (intermediate/international bulk container). You can usually find them for cheap in your online classifieds (e.g. Craigslist for USA, gumtree for Australia). If you want to get them more expensive but already cleaned, contact a barrel/shipping tank recycler or distributor, they usually clean/refurbish used ones and sell for less cost than brand new.

Hello Markatrog, and welcome. May I suggest that you start a new thread in the Members' Systems area of the forum. This should ensure that your questions are viewed (and hopefully answered) more widely than if they are buried within someone else's thread.
