Hey All

Is there an advisable stocking density for my fish tank which would then not require a power back-up system? In other words is there a calculation or something for ascertaining oxygen consumption of fish per hour etc?

It would vary from species to species.... Tilapia are low DO tolerant.... Trout on the other hand have a high DO requirement...

And then... DO solubility... is a function of altitude... and temperature...

You'd have to start by measuring the DO levels in your system over a period of time... then select the data for your species.... to ascertain the number of fish that your passive aeration can support...

Another obstacle has 'arrived' for me to face...

The coffee shop (which I get my electricity from) next door to the field i'm renting has closed its doors. This means sometime soon the chap will need to close his electricity account = no more power!!!

What to do? Any affordable 'off the grid' solutions?
