Ive just been surfin the www and all the sites Ive been to suggest that you provide ALOT of hiding places as they are naturally territorial...all tryn to compete in order to survive... the less they see of each other the better

Yep, got a fair few youngens, I reckon probably about 50 of them and all growing at quite different growth rates.. I reckon it's going to take a while to get them to a decent size, but I haven't been feeding them much, they fend for them selves most of the time.

Hey J7, I've got heaps of baby yabbies at the moment, and the key to them being able to survive is LOTS of hides of various sizes.

Check out my yabbie system thread - http://backyardaquaponics.com/forum/vie ... c&start=60 - I've just updated it with pics.

As I mentioned there, I went to the trouble of separating the females and putting them back after eggs have hatched etc but I have just as many (if not more) baby yabbies in with the general population in the main tank as I do in my indoor aquarium.

If you're not after commercial quantities and you have lots of hides (and plants) in your tank the littlies will do OK.
