If I I'm understanding what you are asking. Then this is referred to as an airlift. Do and search on the forum. It can be used to help in your SLO, or by itself in low energy systems as the sole source of "pump" in a system with no sump. I.e water goes from fish tank to growbed, then straight back to fish tank.

SLOs should not create a siphon...but I don't know if this is what you actually meant.

Drain pipes bottom draw. SLO... I am moving up to a IBC FT and have a 12" HO air stone that if I ziptie the air hoses down the pipes and tie it between the two pipes just above the caps on the bottom will the air lift affect the siphon break (t fitting) at the top?

Depend on the depth where you put the air stone, SLO size and air volume which will cause an airlift effect. It will not create a siphon effect although it can drain more water out of FT until water level in FT lower than outlet pipe a certain height equal head height of your airlift. You can remove SLO with T in it and raise it up until no water come out of the T then measure head height of your airlift.

Cheer,
Long.

Thank you. I will have to play around with it. In my 100 gal Rubermaid there was only 18" of lift not much water movement but now with the depth of a IBC and two 2" SLOs the airlift could move enough water to close off the break siphon at the top?
Jeff

p.s am having to pay $225 for a new IBC up here in Montana....... OUCH! shipping is a Bitc........
Craigs list....Nope, Used.....Nope, drive to Florida for a $60 one.....I would spend more money on Diving and gas....

Hi all
Sorry but I don't understand, if your water flow is right your siphons just work. I have 8 grow beds and all work without hitch. If you having troubles with your siphons then check your design first, the rest is about water flow, fast enough to start the siphon and slow enough to break the air lock.
Put a ball valve on your inlet, muck around for a day mark the spot on the valve ( I have young kids that play with stuff).
Once set , all good. Never have to worry.
Sorry all that other stuffing around is not worth it.

Hey i might be misunderstanding something

Regards Trevor

He's talking about his SLO Trevor, not a syphon. Simple misunderstanding.
