If prices and other factors are the same, should I choose black IBCs rather than the clear type?

I see some on ebay in my area for $70. They are described as:

"1000L IBC black UV stabilised poypropylene water tank in a galvanised steel frame . Being black means no algae can grow in the water inside- unlike the white tanks- because no light can get in . It has had a single use of a clear vegetable oil resin but resin is only a film and is hard and dry and safe.It is ideal for plant irrigation or car/ path washing . It is not suitable to drinking water as it is not certified for this purpose."

I'm about to make my first attempts at setting up a system, so

any advice or other comments are welcome.

Cheers,

Black will save you from painting or lining the outside of your IBC. Many people just use the clear but run the risk of algie growing. I prefer to paint or line the outside

I wouldn't mind getting hold of some black IBCs. $70 seems like a very reasonable price to me.

A good price I pay a hundred for my clear ones but they are food grade and one use.

Hi PLJ,
The listing is for Frankston, Melbourne. Perhaps a bit far for you. Seems to be a regular eBay listing so he obviously has a regular supply.
Cheers
