Hi all !

One more time, sorry for my bad english, I'm French.

So. I have the chance to manage the rebuild of an old village into green.
My job is to turn it food self-depended.
I have a nano aquaponic indoor system and this project is awasome for me, I need help ! :)
Sure, I'll use AP indoor farm for this.

Actually, this village is populated by 60 people.

I have a 44.48 acre field (18Ha in France) to do foods.
Someone says me that in aquaponics, I need 323 sq ft of vegetables per person to be self depending.
Can someone tell me if it's correct ?

I plan to grow in raft and growbeds.
I hope to use Green energy only to do this.

I need ideas to optimize the system, any idea ?

So. I'm not asking you to do my work, I relly need help for a project like this. All ideas are welcome !

Thanks in advance !!!

Ps : I forgot to say that's not an utopic idea. The mayor of this village agree to be self depended.

Salut Kryss ca va? Sorry but my keynoard doesn't allow for the cédille, I actually speak French fluently as my grandma is one half french :)

Welcome to the addiction.
This will be a fun project for you. Just hope you realize It will be a huge commitment, and a huge system. Also I'd take it slowly a few steps at a time, for your commodity mostly.

That is a lot of space to work with also, my suggestion is you read as much as you can so that you can choose the right system design for your village without regretting anything later.

You have surely come to the right place.

The first question, just to get the discussion going, how many people will be working and or tending to such a big system? I hope you're not alone!

Tojo

Hi Tojo !

No soucy for the cédille, many of us often forget it :)
Hope your grandma have the better half of french people ;)

Yes, it's a huge commitment, I know. But it's the promess I did to my daughters when they were born.

Few steps at a time, yes I'll do that. But I don't find a lot of informations about big AP structures.
My english is bad, I don't know if I'm able to learn an english AP book.
That's why I come here.

I hope some of you could tell me the right ways. Aquaponics start in France, but nothing big, just some home gardens.

To answer your question...
Actually, we are 2 on this project. The mayor says that some people will be employed to help me, but not immediatly.
And honestly, this project is so important for me that I'm not afraid to build the farm alone.

I forgot to say that if this project works nice, We'll have a 222 acres field to build a new green and self-depended village.
So, I'll need a big part of the actual field to complete fooding...

Welcome, I attempted to post earlier, but the Starbucks wifi connection was atrocious. I would recommend looking at Karen's Howling Moose Gardensthread. It will give you an idea of ow much work is involved. There are some community systems out there, but it is important to have Dependable workers.

Hi Kryss,

I am also very interested in aquaponics and wonder if you have managed to find tilapia fish in Southern France, if so i would be very interested in buying some for myself. I look forward to your reply.
