my older brother used to work in a cemetary with a bunch of ponds.. plenty of summer weekends we'd go out at night gigging and each of us would fill a 5 gal bucket with frogs..
froglegs are delish! i like them breaded and fried best (sometimes with tartar/cocktail sauce), but they're pretty damned good fried in bacon fat too,, with a mess of bluegill on the side!

Thats great Jaymie. would'nt it be great if this bacame a national event. I particularly liked the following section

"If you are planning to participate in this year's Earth Hour on Saturday 23 March, why not use this time for a little adventure with Operation Toad Day Out? You could 'kill two birds with one stone!" You don't have to spend your Earth Hour indoor in the dark being bored. A more interesting way would be to go outdoor and hunt for Cane Toads. The balmy evening is perfect to spend outdoors. The wet season has provided good conditions for the cane toads to multiply, so there will be many of them hopping around our region - even in your own backyard! "

it sure is a game the whole family can play :)

Well just when I started thinking the toad wacking was over until next summer, weve had a bit of warmer wet weather and the toads have come out of hibernation this week. I got 5 around the silver perch pond and a couple around our compost bins last night :headbang: .

Earlier in the week we had visitors, a freind of ours with her 9 year old son. His little face lit up when I said I was going to wack the toads.

I handed him my trusty wacking stick, found a big toad with the torch. he cracked it a beauty first shot. it was the only one we found.

He very exitedly told his mother about our expedition and discribed his fantastic shot. sadly she didnt quite get it and gave me filthy looks for a while :naughty: .

The little fella went home with a big smile on his face and is keen to come back for another go. :shifty:

well its on again, have ben clobbering up to a dozen every night lately due to the warm weather.

Today we got 50mm of rain, best we've had for about a year that's got them on the move. Tonight I wacked 20 around the yard and splattered a dozen or so on the drive home from work.
