That does look cold! It's just hovering above freezing here and I've been keeping indoor instead of doing anything AP related. Well done if you've achieved anything with that weather.

I think the only way you'll be keeping any tilapia there is as frozen fillets :)

Well I been pushing snow around and giving the dog a good run. But I am waiting for the wheat and OSR to grow.

But you you have snow in London?

The forecast says there's a chance of snow here, but I don't think it'll come to anything.

It's abnormally cold here at the moment for this time of year; it would normally be a fair bit warmer, but I guess I shouldn't complain seeing your weather!

Good luck with the weat. Is OSR oil seed rape? I had to google it :)

Yes it is :-) I always used the word rape, but someone told me it is rude/ not appropriate so I used OSR. I Australia they call it canola.

Oh the weather is fine except for the wind. I don't like the chance warm, cold, warm again. Petrus should decide which way round he going to go :-).

I just got my IBC's delivered! So I wanted to get started and open a "members system" thread.

But:
Although we have 9 1000l ones on the farm I choose to get 2 different ones. As 7 of the IBC them had Glyphospat and 2 had Kofasil in them, so I traded 2 for 2 chemicals free ones. Sounds good doesn't it.

Well I got those two from a organic farmer, as he use them for molasses and sirup to feed bees. But I just found out that it contained mercury and copper pesticides to use on farms.

So I did a bit of research:

Organic farms are allowed to use them instead of normal chemicals acting as pesticide, fungicides etc. pp. because they can't use the "normal" ones. It is quite shocking actually, as I believe mercury to be far more dangerous (not to forget copper it is a heavy metal!) than pesticide proven to work and to be degradable. (he used them on carrots and potatoes.

I certainly will not put my fish and my veggies in those containers, as they were not very clean and after I found out about the mercury he told me that he did not really clean them before putting molasses and sirup in it. (Great now it is in the bees and cows  )

I will now use no ICB just a big round water tank I will get in a fortnight. And wooden boxes lined with tarp.

But at last spring has arrived!

Hey Ron!

Thanks!

I just had a look at your system and it is great. I like your approach to get the greenhouse level!

I tried to find someking of climate data concerning Harleton, TX to compare you system with my ideas, as you need a greenhouse, which I try to build and fill with plants.

Oh and have you been a captain in the 101st?
I used one of the 101st promotion videos during a presentation on the US Army and military in school.

Cu Perpetuitas

i also live in Germany except i currently reside near Kaiserslautern. i found some places on the internet that i having great success in the aquaponics industry with very little cost for energy and materials so like you I'm setting out to build a small system to get my feet underneath me before i take off. did you solve your fish problem? so far all I've found is a lot of carp type fish. i do know a man in Poland that does aquaponics he is using jade perch but for Germany it might be too cold for this type of fish out doors. any information you get on acquiring fish would be helpful considering Germany's strict wildlife laws.
