So my one small assumption, based on info supplied by the IP:
Quote:
If he can't get Ammonia due to govt' regulations... I'm pretty sure he won't be able to get urea!
…causes you to decide we need some “facts” brought into the discussion and sends you on a googling frenzy. In the process of quoting your new found facts you make an assumption yourself:
Quote:
In 2007 Peru used 361,212 tonnes of Urea, therefore one can assume it is used extensively to fertilize their fields.
…and then another:
Quote:
By speaking to one of the suppliers you will find out: If you need a special permit to use ( doubtful )
…and that’s all okay because it was you making the assumptions???

…and Ebay, seriously???... Anyone can sell whatever they want on ebay, until the authorities find out or someone reports the listing… Did you manage to find any Urea for sale on Walmart’s website?... or on the websites of the two biggest garden centre chains in the US, Lowe’s and Home Depot?

If you can't purchase ammonia (legally).. or find urea... look for a lawn fertiliser... one based on (solely)... ammonium sulphate...

Or.. if you've got a hydro store around.... ask for a "Part A" nutrient powder ... more than likely.... it'll be basically urea.... with a 1000% mark up....

Quick goggle search turned up half a dozen importers/suppliers of Urea in Peru... most selling by the thousands of tonne... but here's a couple...

(Callao - ask him for ice cream tub full.... it'll last a life time... unless you spread it on the lawn/garden...)

You must have missed where Jake, who lives in Nashville, Tennessee (USA) stated

Another vote for urea. It's readily available and works fine. Just don't go overboard.

Does Walmart sell urea, I don't care, it's irrelevant because I know it is readily available.

And as for Ebay, I consider it THE BEST RETAIL SHOP ON EARTH.

Yes that is correct, I like Google (not really frenzied though) and when I post something

I always try to reference it as I don't want people to just believe me.

I rather people see where I got my information and then if necessary they can further research

the topic if they so choose.

Now as for the assumptions,

your statement

I'm pretty sure he won't be able to get urea

my statement
By speaking to one of the suppliers you will find out: If you need a special permit to use ( doubtful )

I don't think I need to say anything else

From a local hardware store I can almost walk to. Granted, this isn't Peru, but I'd be surprised if it was illegal in any way.

I think I ordered a 1 lb bag on ebay, though. As I recall, it was for use in cosmetics for some reason.
