I bought these as seedlings from the hardware store just a couple of days ago.

The stuff on the leaves is not dirt.

Fungus? Do I need to cut them off?

Do you know what variety the lettuce is? I grow some red lettuces and the leaves start out green and then develop the redish color kind of like your photo shows. I'd just keep an eye on it and see what happens.

Hi sorry, not really sure. I'm totally a newbie and just bought these to transplant and threw away the container. The spots are not really reddish. They do look a bit fuzzy like fungus.
