Make sure you test Nitrate exactly as the kit suggests.

I havnt tested for a while but I think from memory you have to shake the crap out of bottle 1 and 2 and then again in the test tube... then there is a timeframe you take the reading. Something like that :thumbleft:

As Charlie has said - test again and really shake the bottles for the Nitrate test. I would be surprised if your Nitrates went from 60-80 to 0 quickly.

I'm not surprised of your ammonia and nitrite tests. Sounds like your system is coming along nicely.

I have been really happy with the progress of the system up to date and I have seen rises and subsequent falls in nuritent levels as the bacteria has kicked in! As soon as I had Nitrates in the water I was certain that I was in a good place!

I guess thats why I put the post up I was just a bit uncertain what was going on! :dontknow:

As I said to Charlie I'll have another crack tonight and put the results up as an update!!

Thanks for the tips! Retested the water with the following;

Ammo: 0.0
Nitrite: 0.0
Nitrate: 20-40ppm
