It wasn't such a good morning for us down here too, because of last night sudden frost, I've lost all 20 golden tomato plant(4") and 60 basil pots, unfortunately this frost after a sunny day brought avoc to the spring seed I've planted in 6 GB last week and probably the newly germinated seed have now frost in there too, horticulture...full of surprise.
The system itself has been design to withstand frost and indeed has passed the test, I'm investing some money to buy ELECRO inline 2000w heather, it's my insurance policy to keep in stand by for next winter just in case!
Could you get some pipe lagging and a bubble wrap (pool winter cover) or Kingspan boards, that might help to prevent frost, it worked for me down south, I can't gurantee it work there as it's way colder.
Keep up with the hard work Phill!

Hi Rupe

It is not tough very often but it can get you down when the weather ,over which we have no control ,conspires to cause problems.
Over the last 9 months the wet weather has caused big problems for farmers and growers as the land is too wet to get the machinery working to get crops in and also to sow this years crops. If we could not import food, the UK would be in serious difficulty as we cannot feed our population.

At least with hydroponics and AP we have some measure of control until,of course, everything bloody freezes up. :) We just have to grin and get on with it.
