That was my thinking over the trout season and then out of curiosity I tested and found it up past 800ppm.

I find a 1 in 50 dilution ie 5mls of tank water in 245ml of rain water and them multiply the result by 50.

I would be real interested to see what your results are

Inspired by Iceman and Nebian :headbang: , I have decided to give my chooks a birthday and build them a new house! In the past (25 years) they have had to contend with make do houses that were recycled guinea pig cages or rabbit hutches etc. With their latest house falling around their wattles I got off my arse and into gear.

I have included their house in my system page as the chooks are an integral part of my system.

Had to build the house outside of the pen and then we will move it in. That way I wont have 10 helpers. :upset:

The second flock of chooks will have to wait until next year for theirs. In the mean time they will have to make do with what they have

The sides did get straightened out so the house was square, in case you were wondering from the last set of photos!!

The design was inspired by the kids cubby house, need to have an area out of the rain under the house and a house big enough for up to 20 chooks. Oh and the War Office insisted that it had to look good.

Installed some nice and big bamboo perches that they are used to.

And even painted the inside.

Even without the roof the house weighed a ton and the 5 of us just managed to lift it into the chook run, with a little help from our feathered friends.

Turn your back on them for 5 minutes and you find there are eggs cluttering up your work space.
