I pulled a heap of stuff out of my big system the other day and most like tomatoes and celery had big root systems and things got stirred up. The fish went off the feed for two days but I didn't test the water, but just tossed in a heap of salt to about 1-2ppt

Would pink Himalayan salt be ok to use or normal iodised ??
Nitrites @ 2ppm I am thinking there will be casualties

Get a bag of Sunray or whatever pool salt from the b store. Cheap and pure

got about 1500lph in the FT at the moment Erich using the rest to help de chlorinate the top up water for anothet dump tomorrow or do you think I should just put the whole 3500LPH into the FT ???

Do not use iodised salt only pure salt. I use the sunray from The Big B and had no problems.

Adding it to the sump would be the way to go I take it ??
Diluted that is..

1g per litre is 1ppt so 1g per litre of total water in the system. Mix it up in a bucket and dissolve it as much as possible and tip the lot in the jade tank.
