wave energy.. hmmm
I used to follow the solar tower project (the solar chimney one where the air goes up a central chimney spinning turbines), pretty cool concept except that nothing at all seems to happening in the last few years...
Simply too expensive I guess.

What about molten salt reactors ???? LFTR etc
It's kind of annoying these are never talked about.

Inherently safe
processes all the old spent fuel from conventional reactors
waste produce has a very short half life

People should be careful talking about EROI and what is realistic. An EROI of .25 is actually better than almost every fuel source in use today.
Image

As you can see, fossil fuels and hydro are the ONLY sources to break the .25 level.

Here's a feasible way to do things... Just a new way to use what we already have...

Solves a major problem - solar panels lose power capability as they heat up... so this system turns them away before they heat up. The cone spins all the time, meaning the cells are ALWAYS at maximum capacity...

How many of the solar panels are needed... to turn the thing around...

From the v3 power site...
Quote:
20X more energy production from the same type and amount of PV material
1/20 the amount of silicon produces the same power
Direct AC power (no inverter required)
Significantly Lower Total Cost of Ownership

Neistat explains, “If you needed say 15 acres for a solar farm to
produce 2 MW with flat panel technology, with V3Solar you would only
need about 1 acre for the same energy production.

This is done by using the Power Poles, that hold ten 1KW Spin Cells on
one pole with a footprint of 10 SF. This one feature alone makes many
more projects economically viable without the added benefit of the
built in XY tracking which allows the spin cell to produce energy for
far greater periods when compared to fixed flat panels.

Wow amazingly light also travels in a cone.

If it really is 20 times the energy production then it really makes solar affordable for the average person if one of these things can be put on a roof. Depending on the initial cost for one.

In the video they mention that this technology is not "bleeding edge" which I would assume means that these units will not cost too much.

I think you re confusing 25 with .25 hydrogen was .25

Major advantage of solar over wind was less moving parts
Efficiencies in cooling and maximum surface to sun contact would solved far more efficiently and economically than moving the whole unit.
How do you scale that thing up and what are the EROEI I imagine pretty poor
Burning wood and using the wood gas to run a generator would be more efficient
If you had less trees and more money I would choose Solar thermal it would be far more efficient.

Heh, I wasn't expecting that when I clicked ;)

Stephen Hawking explains all that stuff in "A Brief History of Time"
For those with less time "A Briefer History of Time"

I lost my copy of the first one...must have lost it in the past, hopefully

It's probably underneath your (thin) copy of "Successful Liberatarian Implementations in Government During the Last Five Centuries"...

Successful (or not) implies that it has actually been deliberately "attempted" and "failed"

Maybe you have a copy under your

"Fleecing of the General Public for Dummies - Guide to Central Banking, Central Planning and Big Government, and how to sell it with propaganda"

"Volume 1 of 658"
