Are you human?: Don't think so
Location: Midlands, England
Hi guys, so let me tell you my objective. I will add more detail and answer all questions (hows/whys/whens/ifs/buts/anything) if anybody shows an interest.

I have been researching aquaponics for a few months now, I came upon it through researching how to become self sufficient upon doomsday (I'm thinking a dramatic financial crash followed by worldwide civil war). I don't have the resources (money and space) to start from scratch and build up my own experience and system so I would relish the opportunity to join an operation that is already underway. I would not be looking for any money as reimbursement, instead I would ask for warm food, shelter, internet connection and most importantly the experience. We all know that the food supply system we currently have in place is very counter productive in regards to sustaining the human race. We all know this needs to change. We all know that teaching everybody to grow their own food is an extremely viable solution. Help me to help you save the world, let me work and learn.

I have much MUCH more I could write about and tell you: how I would get there, my plan for the future, my personality, my ambitions, etc. etc. but I didn't want to make a post that everybody would TL;DR so I open the floor to questions.

Also if you would like to talk in person about this matter please PM me your phone number or ask for mine and I'll speak with you over the phone. I do prefer this method of communication, it's much faster.

Thanks for reading, Joey.

Question and learn away Joey... all information is free here on the site...

(Excuse my generational ignorance... but what the hell is TL;DR)

Well I was expecting slightly more friendly and educated replies than those first few but hay ho.

Thanks for the relevant reply earthbound and rsevs3. Do you happen to know of any at all apart from the one in Dorset? I've googled and Yelled and only found the one, but thought this would be the place to find more if they exist.

To others, I ask if you actually read the post or just jumped to the 'stupid' acronym (which saves 15 characters so one of the more effective IMO (in my opinion)). As already stated, I have spent a couple of months reading the forums but there is only so much that reading can teach. I am ready to get my hands dirty. Unfortunately I don't have the time or money to do it alone which is why I am looking for a project that is already underway that I can dedicate my time to.

Please don't kill this thread by spamming it up with irrelevant posts, I would really like to find somebody to work in partnership with and these posts are a hindrance.

Attitude!!!...

I didn't see anything "unfriendly" in any of the replies.

For someone that obviously takes life so seriously, I can't understand why didn't you take the extra 3 or 4 seconds required to type out the 15 characters in question?... then there would've been no ambiguity and no need for anybody to waste your precious time, or "spam up" your thread asking you to explain the acronym.

There is a member on here that I think has a small commercial, or semi-commercial set-up going in Wales, maybe speak to them. Some of the others may know their username off the top of their head.

P.S... me "spamming up" up your thread has just bumped it... you can thank me later!

Yep we are just like a big family here. Spam threads are part of hanging around. As mentioned spam posts do bump it, so they are not all bad, you can just not read the spam posts.

I think the user that Mr Damage is talking about is bioaquafarm here:

I kill spam on a full time basis buddy, you might want to get a feel for the forum before you drop big ones like that.

Yeah I know bit of attitude, just comes as part of the 'speak your mind/honesty is the best policy' package I was graced with. Seems as though I didn't cause any offence though which is great. But still, sorry to anyone who did find my last post offensive, be sure that it'll happen again.

Thanks very much for the helpful info you have provided, I will surely be giving Herbs From Wales a call on Monday and getting in touch with bioaquafarm! Hopefully I'll have updates to post soon!

Off topic- 22 hours without a cigarette! Learnt how to skin a rabbit today. Hoping to learn how to gut it tomorrow.

You should allways gut before you skin (anything) the skin protects the meat from being possiby poluted by gut content.
Sure hope it's a different rabbit you are guting tomorrow, than the one you skinned to day.

cheers
