What kind of filter batting is that? Almost looks like a floor buffer pad.

I looked at this stuff some time ago...

US$50 per sheet in US -- or A$150 per sheet here in Oz! Delivery is also cheaper from US than it is within Australia... <sigh>

I ended up "borrowing" some from a local aquarium guy (who got his from Japan). It's good stuff, but not worth the (Australian) price, IMHO. 3M make different grades of floor buffer pads which have very similar properties, but are much cheaper.

Finally after 43 days of fishless cycling Ammonia 1 Nitrites 2 Nitrates 20 - seeing that this morning helped - i have been very impatient on this to start occuring maybe some tilapia in a couple of weeks. i have lettuce seedlings that have poped up in the germination station after only one day so next week i just might be planting :)

this morning

5 1-2" golfish
1 4" golfish

Temp 79
pH 8.1 and falling about .1 every few days
Ammonia .25
Nitrites 10 i diluted 3x just to make sure
Nitrates > 80 < 160

i added 723 grams of salt to 200 gallon tank for 1 ppt to help the fish during the nitrite spike

waiting for the nitrites to come down before i order the tilapia but i think im getting close
