Your just showing off because you can actually decipher doctor handwriting. :)

I don't have to any more, since we started using the computer-based charting! Now I can finally tell what they've been writing all this time. :)

Do you suppose he meant 'untreated' rather than undiagnosed??? I'm just tossin it out there.

Does suggest doctors are not as smart as they think they are, nor as smart as we've assumed they are.

:laughing3: :laughing3: :laughing3: So true. I have far more respect for nurses than doctors. My high school track career was derailed by in inept doctor. Apparently he had never heard the heartbeat of a distance runner. After all of the testing, he found that I had a substantially lower risk of heart attack than the rest of the population, but I missed two weeks of practice. I went from getting first place as a sophomore racing against seniors, to nearly last place.

And Ace Hardware has expanded clay growing media, in case you didn't see when I posted about that. They got another shipment in, and called to tell me. I love that about small towns. I love it so much I went and bought some from them even though I didn't need any more. ;)

It's called "Plant!t," in case you go looking for it. It's cheaper than Hydroton, and I like it better.

I went to Ace Hardware in BG today and all they have were little $9.99 bags of the stuff. Instead I picked up a couple 50L bags from a place just across the bridge in Portland. They were $30 and I saved on tax. I've too lazy to do the math right now but I'm going to need a lot more then what I have. Using pea gravel would be a lot cheaper but it's going to be pretty darned heavy.

That's probably where my hubs got the one he brought home for me. I'm guessing something like 300L per IBC grow bed. Not cheap, but it's not like it wears out or anything, and I'm feeling more and more like spending the money the more I mess with this stupid gravel. :P

I take it you're back from Yuma. Welcome home! Did you get here in time for the sunshine, or did you miss it? ;)

After using expanded clay balls, I don't think I'd use anything else. So easy to work with. So easy to shake out of the roots of harvested things.

The expanded clay balls even have a resale value. (perhaps the single most important aspect when convincing reluctant partners of the virtues of aquaponics)

My triops are hatching!

Either that, or some of the specks of white sand the eggs were in have taken to floating slightly above the rest. I guess I'll have to wait and see whether they grow, to know for sure.

In related news, I think I need bifocals. :(

Beautiful apple tree.... :thumbright: Be careful to try and keep the branches labelled, and don't let one variety take over too much.. I had a multi graft citrus which just ended up being the one variety because I didn't maintain it..

I have started reading about grafting because I wish to be able to replicate that on my existing trees, eventually.

But if you have bi focals - or even half moon glasses - then you can look over the top of them in a very quizzical way. great for intimidating grand children without intimidating them. (if you see what I mean)

And that's why I think every individual should have a sound track. One to wear like a scent, and another for dramatic gestures. I suggest the first two notes of the jaws theme for the looking over the glasses gesture. That would work well with a gentle humming aria as the background scent.

I've always thought life should have a sound track. It would make it so much easier to know who the bad guys are, or when you're about to walk into a trap or something.

And also, although this has nothing whatsoever to do with anything, my husband suggested today that we move my son's corn snake* out of the other 55-gallon aquarium so I could put fish in it.

Wow. It was HIS idea. I confess I had thought about it, privately, and pondered over what sort of fish/setup I would use it for, but I had not mentioned anything about it.

*The snake was my son's pet when he was a teenager. He is now 30**. His SO does not like snakes. He likes her. So the snake lives with us.

**He is much older than I am. I am not sure how he managed that, but he did. He's always been a smart one.

Yeah, I'll definitely have to leave the labels on!
