But there is a thing better than TimTams, better than everything.

There are these things sold as syrup wafers. I think they are a waffle type thing filled with maple syrup.

You use them as a lid on your coffee cup until they get hot and kind of ... how do you spell the thing that sounds like GUI ... any way.... you leave it there until it's warm and a bit soft, the enjoy it with your coffee.

I think I experienced them from whatever country "Ikea" comes from.

Or perhaps Canada.

Not that I think those countries are the same, but at least one of them makes a product called syrup wafers.

Buy a coffee machine, and buy some syrup wafers.

And Mrs Bullwinkle says you need to slam TimTams by biting off each end, then drinking hot coffee through them as if the TimTam were a straw.

Personally I disagree. I think they are best eaten without the drama.

PM me an address and I'll send you some TimTams even without the twinkies. I'm not so sure I really want twinkies :)

TimTams truly are everything people claim and more.

Really really really good.

As far as I know they contain no Soma or Soylent Green.

If you PM me an address, I'll send you a packet in return for a packet of twinkies

I don't think there has ever, in the entire history of deals, ever existed an offer so one sided :)

Twinkies are not, currently, in production. They are rumored to be purchased soon, but not yet.

Twinkies are so artificial, that no algae or anything else will grow on them. Of course, in addition, they contain no nutrient value whatsoever.

Nooooooo!

A life time of wondering what they taste like. I cant wait another lifetime.

On the upside, I can probably buy some 30 year old stock from ebay to get the full experence of that which does not rot :)

Is this for real???

'Cause, I mean, we badmouth Twinkies for their ingredient list all the time, and here I've always wanted to taste Tim Tams because supposedly they're so amazingly awesome...

I may have to issue an apology or something...(you too, RonMaggi!)

I think that that translates into "our factory is so dangerous that some times bits of people fall into our food, and we are too lazy to fish those bits out, and too cheap to throw out the batch"

Tim tams are now officially part of the supplies needed for zombie apocalypse. When surrounded, just toss them at the zombies, and they will be busy consuming those instead of you.

Incidentally, tangent123123, the fact that we met on an international forum and still have not met face to face despite both living in the same town and it being roughly the size of a postage stamp (depending on how far you zoom in on Google Earth) is really unacceptable. We're going to have to fix this.

And Ace Hardware has expanded clay growing media, in case you didn't see when I posted about that. They got another shipment in, and called to tell me. I love that about small towns. I love it so much I went and bought some from them even though I didn't need any more. ;)

It's called "Plant!t," in case you go looking for it. It's cheaper than Hydroton, and I like it better.

I'm still in yuma but we will have to get together sometime when we get back. I'd love to see your system and how it's running.

Which Ace do you do you mean? I most definitely will need some media and if I can save a bit buying from them then I'd be all for it.

Oh, yeah, I was gonna send you Twinkies, and everyone bought them all because they were going away, and I couldn't find any. Maybe by now the panic has subsided. I'll check and see!

And you're completely correct, it's an insanely lopsided deal. but I'll take it. :)

The Ace Hardware in Battle Ground. I don't know that you'd want to use it for all your grow beds, even with the slightly lower price of the off-brand. But it might not be too bad to use it for one grow bed so you could have straight carrots, or (what I'm going to do) for strawberry towers, so they're not as heavy for hanging.

I tried to send you a PM earlier this evening, but I was being bounced on by a toddler and a puppy and it got lost somewhere in the mayhem. It said that the ADHD fish store guy finally remembered to contact his supplier about catfish (mostly because ADHD me finally remembered during actual business hours to call and remind him) and she said getting cats would be no problem at all and she'll call him with a price tomorrow.

So unless the supplier is as ADHD as the other two people involved in the transaction, we might know something tomorrow. Or, failing all that, we could always just wait until April and buy trout from the people on Craigslist.

I'm starting to really wish there were more edible fish species that would potentially breed in an IBC, because if this is how long it takes me to get a new batch of fish every time, I may have to give up and just run it with guppies or something!

Yeah, I've had some interesting experiences this way as well. Most people want to fill a lake with fish so they are buying hundreds or thousands of fish. It seems customer service is nill when you only want around 50. I've also noticed some huge pricing differences.

If you don't mind the shipping... there are all manner of options. And you're right about the difference in price. You'd think it would be the opposite... more money for more fish... but not so much.

I'm finding a couple of different places in Northern Nevada that have trout varieties... and a couple of perch varieties. There's a native Nevada trout that has fair temp range... still won't like it 'hot'... but with shade, circulation, and a little 'waterfall' action I hope to pilfer from a friend... I may have a going concern, eventually.

Uwajumaya in Portland, a Japanese grocery store, has a giant fish tank in the seafood section with live tilapia in it. I've idly wondered a couple of times whether they'd sell me some without killing them first.

The fish store guy's supplier forgot to call him back today, and he felt so bad about not remembering to call her before she closed early for the day that he said he would be sure to make me a "smokin' deal" on the cats, once he knows the price. We'll see.

Otherwise, maybe I'll wander down to Uwajimaya sometime and try out my ten-year-old village kid Japanese on the seafood department people and see if I can charm them into selling me some live fish.

It's not a very good plan. But I like going to Uwajimaya, and I haven't been in a long time, so it could be worth trying out anyway.

Who knows, maybe you could foster a relationship with them. Perhaps they give you a breeding pair, and you keep them stocked.

I would guess it's normal to sell them live.

And on a slightly related note, I watched an episode of Iron Chef (Japanese cooking show) where a school or university had provided the Talapia as the main ingredient.

I cant remember if it was aquaponics out aquaculture grown.

Like I said. Only slightly related topic.
