Yeah the IBC systems we were selling were with 4 bags of clay, but, everyone had to cut up the IBC's, clean them and paint them themselves...

The aquaponic pepole that know me know i dont pay full price for anything so looking at your costs its not a bad price

On the one hand what I paid for mine - IBC plus basic bits (gravel was free) would come to less than $180 - that's IBC, pump, pipes and air pump. It doesn't actually say you get the media and transporting it would be a significant cost unless you live just down the road.

On the other hand I'd want to know what the painting was - IBC's are notoriously difficult to paint with anything approaching a long-term solution unless you do it right. I'd want to know what the pump is and how long it has been running and if it has been on constantly or start/stop. I'd want to know if the system has been set up for expansion possibilities or will I need to buy in plumbing parts to add a GB/filters/FT etc.

On the gripping hand I would say that seems a reasonable price - there are similar systems out there for a LOT more money and about the only difference for some of them would be they don't use a part-IBC for the GB.

I've been watching "Kevin McCloud's Man Made Home ", reminds me of you Milne, everything he's used to build and kit out the house has come from the property or been waste..


Hot tub made from an old aeroplane jet engine, with a boiler made from an old propane bottle.




A fire box/stove made from an old jewellers safe.





And the best thing of the lot... A reclining chair made from old tractor bits and scrap metal from a canal.
