Ok, as of about 30 mins ago....

The largest commercial integrated aquaculture in the Southern Hemisphere... probably the world... has been formally announced....

The 100 tonne RAS, and 4 million plant/hectare production system is located at Cobbity on the outskirts of Sydney

The operation ahs been branded as "Blue Farms".... and is the fruition of 5 years work by the UES group... and was designed by three of Australias leading aquaculture designers.

It features the most sophisticated, automated technologies from around the world, and a moving hydroponic subsystem which is an Australian innovation.. along with other innovative Australian developed processess.

You can see pics and material here... http://www.bluesmartfarms.com/freshfood/

And the attached PDF file... in zipped "rar" format...

This is stage one of a three stage development.... and is a working commercial farm....

For reasons of bio-security, IP protection... and just sheer workload... the facility is unlikely to be open for public tour.... so don't bomabrd them with emails requesting a look though...

If they change their position on the matter at a later date... I'm sure they'll make an announcement accordingly...

 yeh, but it's a start... I mean there's a first for everything... and to get started on a mega system like that... it will get bigger once they get better at it and then they can study and provide us with rock solid evidence!!!

it's a real start......

Proper credit is due for the photo. Thanks Porter.

It's cool to imagine Rupe on an under cover mission though :)

Paul is one of the few AP/RAS professionals we have roaming around AP sites - credit should have been attributed in the first post for what he is involved with in BlueFarms.

It's a stunning achievement and confirmation of the tech we are trying to grasp, develop and promote with our puny backyard systems - to see someone taking it mainstream so convincingly is amazing - to post it without proper attribution is not.
