Good decision on not biting each other. :thumbright:

Love the raft system, did you just drop the seeds into the net pots?

Most of them were seedlings, rather than seeds. We planted some seeds, but too deep, I think, and hey never germinated. I've replanted the ones above the waterline, letting the wicked mosture feed them - but they've not yet struck.

I'd been haunting eBay for watertanks, and finally two of these came up for the right price:

Built a sleeper and crusher-dust base yesterday (why does everything I shovel come in 1T increments?)

Now I can top up with rainwater.

Hey man, how are those pontoon rafts working out for you? Any updated pics to share? Wanting to find out if it is a good long term time/material investment.

The low-density pipe leaked at the joins, so the rafts began to sink. So I built a frame from PVC that supports the rafts at the right level. The low-density has stayed on the coreflute to provide some rigidity when handling.

However... I'm a bit discouraged at the moment. We've lost two batches of thirty trout in a row... there's four, I think, left. I'm unhappy to not have the fish... but I'm more unhappy because of the sense that I've murdered fifty-something living things for no reason.

Don't agree with the phrase "...murdered...for no reason".

Murder is intentional. These deaths of the fish are accidental.

"Accidental killings that do not result from the defendant's criminal Negligence and do not occur during the commission of a crime are not criminal offenses in these jurisdictions." - Description from a dictionary.

You fed the things, "housed" them, cleaned the water as best you could, aerated the water... what else could you do?

Thing is with Trout is that they have to have pristine, cold water. Maybe go with something else for a while?

Besides all that, it really hurts the pocketbook, eh?
