Off to town in a few days, thought I might have a look for water test kits.
What should I be looking for?

At a minimum, you should be able to test pH, nitrite and nitrate. When I priced out nitrate and nitrite tests here, Aquarium Pharm (API) had the cheapest tests by far (2 cents per test as opposed to average 15 cents per test for other brands)

NH4 (Ammonia) is a good one too when starting out. Its not a bad idea to test ammonia, nitrite and nitrate fairly regularly to determine when cycling has begun and when the system is fully established.
