Hello everyone, I am located in California up in the high desert 20 minutes from down town palm springs.

Weather gets to to be about 120 F a few days during the summer but for the most part is around 100-110 F of dry heat. winter is around 20 every once in a while at night but for the most part stays above freezing.

Any suggestion or help would be great as I live on about 3/4 acre and am ready to give it a go at Aquaponics for the first time.

Thanks,

AL

Welcome saint :wave1:

Your summer temps are good but you may need to look at a hoop house or something to keep that cold snap of the plants and system during winter. there are many around that have had good success in those low temps.

Thank you. Yea mine will be a small enclosed greenhouse for starters to get the hang of it... then eventually do the hoop houses as I have a nice 90' x 100' place for them in the back yard... ;)

The starter area is about 8' x 10' so I will just adjust up once I am ready. Just need some reading material and formulas as I hope to get up and running this summer.

Have lots of sun for solar power and since we are on a type of mesa... I plan on coverting wind energy as well. These are the goals and it looks like I found the right place to pic the brains of the experts. Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.

Welcome you can make the first system one for the kitchen if its close and handy. The next one can be for your bulk vegies and if you buy the block next door you can expand again. The mind boggles at what can be done.

PS I am not addicted to aquaponics, much.

Thank you guys for the warm welcome... this place is great. Just measured my area that I want to run my first Aquaponics system and it is 8' x 13'... I hope I can get er' done. My rental that I am in is built like a box shaped C and has a place for a patio in the holloed part of the boxed C so I will take half of that space and build the green house there. Plan to use a swamp cooler for summer and make sure it is well insolated for winter months. Direct sunlight during the mid day should be enough to keep them going. Just need to ballance the veggies to fish. Going to get the digital manual and start my night reading.

Thank you all again and will post pics when I get started.

Again... I am here to learn so any input would greatly be appreciated.
