Hey ya'll, I'm from south LA. I am planning on starting a system within a couple of months and have been searching for information on how to do it. I ran across this forum and I have been learning from some of your posts. I decided to join so that I can share my venture with ya'll and more importantly learn from ya'lls experience.

About 2 hours north of Houston, and a hour west of Lufkin. Near Crockett Texas. Been here about 7 years. Left Louisiana after Rita and Katrina. We flooded 5 times in 10 years and where tired of it.

Ryan...........greetings from your neighbor in Lake Charles, LA. I have also been bitten by the "Aquaponics Bug" and have actually made my first "Bell Siphon" that actually works just like the ones shown on U-Tube. I've purchased Two (2) 50-gal. grow beds (actually water troughs from Tractor Supply in Moss Bluff) and I'm still looking for a 200 to 250 Gal. Fish Tank that will work with the space that I'm using. I've found an Aquaponics Supply outfit in Spring Texas (just North of Houston) that has the "expanded clay" and "expanded shale" that I'm thinking of using for the grow medium. I'll have to drive over there to save on the "shipping costs" which are very high!!! Let me know if you need any help with the "Bell Siphon" part of the system, since that is a major part of how the fill-and-drain system works properly. Best Regards, Mike S.
