Hey chef,
Great to see some collegue with the same orientation, selling fish x kg does not generate enough i9ncome to pay back the installation cost or even the operation running cost, that is why we are selling gourmet delicacy product, trout patee', terrine, mousse, cold/ hot smoked, marinated filleted etc..
Tilapia it is a non native spieces, it will cost more to raise a tropical fish and the value it's one third of trout price, and simply no market for it.
African and asian eat those fishes, here we eat carp (eastern european only) I'm sure you have heard of CARP/ACCIO!!!!
This is a marketing name for my platter of sliced smoked carp!

Well the gourmet fish products should do quite well I think, chefs and customers alike are definitely making more conscious shifts into purchasing and eating all natural fish. I live right on the coast and often times still question the levels of toxicity in the sealife I eat right off the dock.

I like the name! good play on words!

what an amazing setup!! and a massive congrats for getting the go ahead!!

i think all us APers have ideas to go commercial, no matter the size, so i envy you and take my hat off.

going gourmet really is the key i believe, its a market i'd love to supply to if i ever got a commercial setup going

Thank you all for the continuos support, in my experience going commercial is a tough road and there are many more regulation if you are producing gourmet fish product or dealing with the public/private catering sector.
Temperature here are still low (8c daytime), so far 1300 plants have succesfully been sawn and are slowly growing, next week the first batch of fish will arrive (50 yellow pearch, 100 mirror carp) they will be placed in the settling tank(sump) just to help the system to establish before we stock our first rearing tank with 350 trout.
Next month phase two will be starting and until august we will be very busy planting and building, this month I will be working on the web site and hopefully by march/april we shall be live.

The system has gone through winter without any problem(no fish in there), the pipe system has been design in way that would have not frost and the insulation foam around the siphon guard was enough for the water not to freeze in there, it was a winter test run,and the best of all… no heating.
So far the system has exceeded my expectation, plants are slowly growing and the kelp juice has been helping to keep them tuned, today the trout have arrived and I must say I’m excited to have the little creature swimming around, I still find hard the slaughtering stage to be honest.
Some photos from the building phase

It is all looking wonderful Bioaqua, very inspirational. What type/size of pumps are you using? What about Aeration? reason I ask is planning on putting together a greenhouse system here in Texas and was looking for suggestions on both from folks that may have a similar sized system. Very well done!!!!

Parker

thanks parker,
pumps= 2 by 20000 lt in settling tank on timer 2min on 15 min off (400watt) + 1by 20000lt on a float switch
areation FT (70ltx min) =35 watt (times four FT)
areation DWC (140ltxmin)= 70watt (times four DWC) long pipes require more pressure hence more electricity
