Added a float valve to automatically top up the FT (no more leaving the tap running incidents for me)

A stone retaining wall and ferocrete base over the yellow sand tidy it all up nicely, now I just need to get two more GB's to expand the veg side of things.

sweet looking setup - what stocking density are you planning?

Have you thought about building in a quarantine function? perhaps the second IBC could be used for that along with one GB. Not sure if its totally necessary, though was happy to be able to do that with my system when introducing some barra - also meant I could salt a small vol of water for a while and have salt tolerant plants in the quarantine GB.

Nice one. I made a shadecloth cover for the FT as well to keep the algae down. I then put a weedmat black-out on the top and the algae died :thumbright:
then I took the weed mat off to get the barra tank warmer and now the algae is returning :naughty:

A separate quarantine system would be useful, I'll put that on my to do list until I have added two extra GBs to this one, I need more filtration to balance the number of fish the system could hold.

At this stage I am only going to have 100 silver perch 50 bought now and 50 in a years time to stagger the harvest, as they grow so slowly, and 50 rainbow trout for the cooler months. This is a very low stocking density for 8,000L of FT but is balanced against the amount of filtration I have rather than the FT volume. Also having a low fish density is the best passive back up system you can have :thumbleft:

Some picture of the herding net I made to catch the fish. Once the fish are trapped in the corner they can be netted with less stress.

Liking that net arrangement,i will steal that ideal,so simple but very effective saves chasing them around the tank for ages.
I wish i could keep trout, used to do a bit of fly fishing on Chew and Blagdon back in the good old days, one of my favourite fish to eat.
