Not 2 hours wasted... but time well spent locating your backup pump for the event that one day your primary pump fails, before your primary pump fails.

The glass is half full.

G'day Charlie. The latest is that Melbourne is cold. Murray Cod sulk when its cold. As a result, which is well documented, they don't eat as much. Tip for new players - this behaviour is normal. What I did wrong was spoil the little buggers with live food and just as when you give a kid chocolate cake they wont eat their greens so to my cod now won't go near the pellets. I still have all 15 or so in the two tanks along with 3 eel tail catfish.

My second system is going great guns with 10 now big rainbow trout well trained for their food both at morning and dusk. Clearly I will be eating trout soon and if the season goes on as long a last year I may get a second batch in.

I'll post some photos on the weekend

Yeah don't stress fordy. Don't be too concerned that it was your spoiling that has led them not to eat the pellets at the moment. Mine will not go near pellet or worms or yabbie or anything for that matter at the moment. Just a bit too cold still yet for them to be interested in feeding.

My winning rain garden (aquaponics system). No media coverage yet but apparently the local paper is keen to take some photos

I'm still here. Spent the whole day today clearing plumbing of basil roots. All set now for summer. Have spent the last few months spreading the good word of aquaponics. Can claim three new system setups here in Melbourne. receive new fish in 2 weeks. Going to try silvers this summer. Still have the one Murray cod in one tank and about 15 trout in another. Will try again this year for the trout brag comp.

Trust that I am still an active reader of all posts and am following with interest some other sites that have used my system for there own personal gain.

I'm also taking 4 months long service leave from the start of December ~ I can feel another system in the making. If anyone knows were I can get 300ml diameter clear Perspex tube I'd be very interested. I need 2 meters in length for a fish bridge between systems.
