I use them on my kayak when fishing, it documents a trip perfectly!!

they are on the the do list...lol

i need to do one of my parent's system and one of my chooks.
My system has been temporarily suspended until i get more fish, and i have been flooding my system in an attempt to rid it of the aphids.

We have been planning an expansion so the video will have to wait until that is done

Yep, love the gopros, especially all the mounting options.

Works well stuck to the side of the car or mounted on the roll cage. Going to try it on a helmet mount next season I think...

with her friend and competitor Isabella Sousa (Brazil - Current World champion).... with a gopro at a local break...

And Lilly in a nice barrel with the GoPro HD cam on Valentine's Day 2011, Eukai Beach Park Hawaii.

Just thought I'd drop a mention of GoPro into this thread...

The signature... and first event of this years IBA World Tour... The Pipeline Challenge in Hawaii...was cancelled last week.. due to lack of sponsership...

GoPro has stepped up to the plate at the last minute....as the major named sponser of the Pipeline event... enabling it to go ahead... and as a continuing sponser for the Grand Slam series...

Many Thanks to GoPro for their major sponsership of the IBA World Tour... you guys rock... just like your GoPro cameras...

given the relatively small price difference between the silver and black and the quite significant quality difference, I don't understand why anyone would buy anything but the black...

I picked up the hero 3 silver at the airport on the way to fiji. its been awesome.

I wouldnt have minded the black, but at the end of the day, i'm not shooting pro footage, so the silver is more than enough.

The go pro hero 3 just came out. It is us$300, the still awesome hero 2 is down to $200. They both shoot at 1080p, the 3 has a better lense for underwater, and built in wifi.

I SO want a camera with wifi.

Since I've been doing this blog thing, I've worn out 2 1/2 cameras. Both have failed, (and this last one is failing) in their ability to transfer images out.

Actually this last one looks like it will fail in it's ability to retract it's lens just before it fails totally in its ability to make a solid usb connection. (or read an SD card.)

All my cameras seem to fall off the perch at between 4500 and 5500 pictures.

Perhaps camera companies think 5000 shots is about right for a camera to last.

I keep dropping hints, but nobody will send me a free digital SLR :)

+1 on gopro. If you have other hobbies other than filming aquaponics your money will be well spent.

The additional mounts etc for multiple types of hands free filming are excellent.

For action spot filming it can be slightly chunkier than a contourHD though.

5000 shots sounds a bit low. I would have said 10-20k for a standard point and shoot.

reading about my 600d, they suggest around 100k photos is the life of the shutter.

Both Canon and Nikon make great cameras in the $1k range.
Go to a shop and try both of them out, see what feels right for you.
Even if you have never held one before, one will probably just feel nicer in your hand. Pick that one.
That's why I picked my Nikon, it just felt right.

As long as you stick with those two you will be happy

Ive been looking for most of the day now *sigh*

Theres so many choices and I dont understand most of the lingo. I am leaning towards the Nikon so far but which model is killing me. I think going to a store to feel one out is a good idea. Ive found the camera warehouse handy for the info but ebay seems to be the go for price. Just need to be careful.
