Got lucky, it died down before it hit us. Winds where only about 45 mph, but my greenhouse did get more damage. It is still standing though so that is good.

Good news, hopefully not too much damage.

Yeah, we get some pretty intense storms on a regular basis. Had some bad winds a couple years ago that tore up my roof, a wall, my hot tub, and a my carport. A feed store near my house got hit by a F-4 tornado last month, nothing left to it.

This was fun reading... I enjoyed watching your system grow. I'm interested in everything you've done since we are in the same climate zone I believe. Looking forward to spring updates.

I had a couple of questions. And I'm a complete newb.

It looks like you are surrounded by woods. How do you keep the deer from eating everything?
How do you deal with the Texas summer heat? As to the water temps? Will the moving water keep it cool enough?

Tami G

I don't have a real aquaponic system yet, but
the system Im planning in my head is beautiful and working perfectly... :)

Thanks Tami, Yes I am surrounded by woods, but I have 3 very large dogs (smallest one is 125 lbs) so the deer don't come up to the house. Besides with this system in the ground it is going to be hard for the deer to get to it.

I am going to have cover over the plants, but last year they did fine with the heat. I am assuming it is the water being fairly cool that has helped.

Yeah, but sometimes I bite off more than I can chew. Been saving money all winter and hope to be able to finish the structure this summer.

Wouldn't the cool of winter be a better time for the more strenuous labor?

No not really. Winter sucks, wind blows hard all the time, it rains a lot and my yard sucks when it rains. I can handle the heat, I hate cold. The red clay sticks to your shoes bad when wet, and is extremely slippery.

Besides to do anything I have to take my green house down and if I do that to early all my plants will die.
