Will marron survive in the above water quality?

Your PH is ok but the amm and cycling process that follows will prob stress/kill them.

Hey all, just a question about the cycling process.. Is the aim to keep the Ammonia up around 2 until you see nitrites and or nitrates, then let the ammonia return to 0? I initially spiked my system with Charlie carp and fish waste from my aquarium, and today's test showed a slight drop in amm already (and 0 nitrites, very little nitrates), so I put a bit more Charlie carp in. Should I have just left the ammonia to return to 0 instead?

Add about 20-40ml of CC per 1000L. Wait till it drops to zero then repeat, eventually the coversion will begin and nitrites will rise and amm will fall. When Amm and Nitri is zero you have basically cycled. Keep in mind that CC is not an instant amm source.. it takes time as it is basically powdered fish.

i've decided ... worse than shovelling and cleaning pea gravel ... is simply waiting! ... waiting for the system to cycle, waiting for the vege's to grow, waiting for trout season! hmmmmmmmm ... might have to do some expanding to fill the void now that the system is doing its thing

Nice colours!! Seems the overdose of the charlie carp has kicked everything into full swing nitrate production!

Any suggestions, or just wait for the nitrites to drop in due course?

I just got back from my swing away at work, and the growth rate of the veggies has been amazing! 9 days after planting, there's 6 capsicums formed, carrot seeds have sprouted, lettuce has quadrupled in size, strawberries are producing fruit, spaghetti squash is already threatening a global takeover. loving this aquaponics idea!
