hey i need some help planting my plants!

i will be growing tomatos, peppers, lettuce, basil, and many other herbs, maybe avacodos and asparagus in the future.

how should i start the seeds?

from everything i have read on this forum, things like lettuce, basil etc will grow if you seed straight into your grow bed. Probably start the peppers/chilli off in seed trays.

Found a pretty interesting vid of a guy starting off bacon avocado that might help you out there, he seems to have a fair bit of success.

Search on here for wicking bed and then use google to look for nft (you can't search for nft directly because it is too short, so what you do is go to google search and enter this:

I am sure that asparagus cannot be grown in an AP growbed. The root system is different than most other garden plants, and I doubt this kinda media will work. at least this is my experience with the plant.

I am by no means a gardening expert, but almost all of my plants have been grown from seeds just buried in my grow beds. Only a few where bought as plants and planted.

Ive had hit and miss luck with planting seeds in my GB's. I now use a seedling tray and fill it with seedling mix which I emurse into a vacant spot in a GB so the AP water wicks into it. Seems to work well.

Faye has asparagus in her GB.

+1. I figured out that my "miss" is due to slugs eating the seeds before they germinate.

If I sow directly I to the growbed in my small system (where slugs can't get in) they sprout faster than in a propagator. I now use $7 mini green house propitiatory from bunnings....works a treat... but u will have to wait till a cool day to transplant seedlings, and make sure their roots tough the water.

Cool thanks for the help I will just be putting some lettuce seeds in the grow bed directly. I will start the rest in soils and move to the grow bed when it's up and running! Will also let the plays get pretty big before I do.

Btw my system is indoors does this make Andy difference?

So do you just randomly scatter the seeds in? Or is there some method to the madness?
