I don't know of any immediately efficient way to sort such scam sites out, but http://mywot.com may be among the first to become one.

WOW! I just watched that video, and came within a hair of clicking the "Buy" button at the end, but then some
merciful little "inner voice" told me to better Google Aquaponics a little bit first...after all, I'd never heard (or read) that term before, and it kind of sounds like something too good to be true. No disrespect intended, especially not after what my Google search turned up, since this seems to be for real. But I'm definitely glad I found this site, and especially THIS forum thread, since it saved me $37 that'll be of better use on materials for a an Aquaponics system.
This is certainly worth a try, and now I just have to convince my hubby that fresh fish in the backyard would be a great alternative to running around in the mountains looking for meat to put in the freezer.

My husband and I have just started looking into starting an AP system and I came across Alec Deacon's Backyard Liberty website this evening. The video he has put together will make your hair stand on end! Like Mountaingal, I was tempted to hit the purchase button myself, but I decided to investigate the site a little more. If it is a scam, it is very elaborate...as I searched I came across a facebook link for Alec Deacon- my family survial plan(which claims to be founded in 2010, but there are no posts before Jan. 2013) and a webpage- www.myfamilysurvivalplan.com that has posts dating back to June of 2012. The package he offers sounds great for the money, but if the info is not valid then it's worthless. I am glad I came across your website while I was searching, because I don't want to waste my time or money on a system that is not going to work. I look forward to learning from all here in the forum that have discovered through trial and error what works and what does not. Thanks everyone!

I notice that both aquaponics4you and backyardliberty (seems to be an offshoot of the myfamilysurvivalplan website) are advertising essentially the same product, with the same 60-day money back guarantee for the exact same amount of $37.

You think they both rely on the same marketing consultant?

Let me tell you about a succor who fell for that and bought it.
I went to their page just before finding this site.
In fact, if it was not for their page, I might not have searched and found this site.
I saw a comment on the youtube comments, that said you can get free information on other sites.


There is some good information on the site, but it is free here, and much more information is free here also.
When you go to their page, at this time, they offer it for $37.
The price offered was $27.
Different pages seem to offer different prices.
Even $27. seemed a little expensive at the time.
When I clicked away, the popup offer was a "special" reduced price of $17.
So I figured $17. is not too bad, . . . so guess who bought it at $17. 00 ?

If someone would like to see what information they give, it is mainly on one .PDF .
I could send that to someone, if they would like to take a look at it.

Doc... when you are a person who has faith in folk... you can be taken advantage of very easily. I'm so sorry.

That said... the prices for the 'package deals' also made me cringe. Mostly... cause I'm unemployed, and frankly- broke.
With my birthday money, I got an air pump, tubing, pvc pipe and fittings... and I'd gotten three barrels when i was working. I can start my system with goldies... and move to edible fishes when I'm working.

Done, and done...
Luckily, my boy has hole saws, and drills... And... If all goes well, I'll have the beginnings cut... no $ for lumber yet... so we'll see.

Best thing the industry can do is post alerts on all genuine AP and affiliated genuine AP websites that there IS in fact scammers around. Most newbies would be unsuspecting and the 'prepping' movement is gaining speed where economies are tanking. Australia will follow eventually as our debt expansion is unsustainable. But get some ALERTS on the websites ASAP! Good luck.

I did a search on google and put in
"aquaponics4you.com" "aqua-guide.pdf"
I found 2 .PDF files that I looked at and found that they were the same as the files on the dvd that I received with the purchase. So It looks like anyone can get the same .PDF file.
I saved a copy to my computer for reference.
Just go to the site below and look at the .PDF file online.
Then click on save a copy on the .PDF and save a copy on your computer.
Just for reference, I would recommend that people save a copy before they change the web page.

Maybe a copy can be put on this site for easy reference if it is legal to do.
