I have also got 2ppt in the tank they went into..but do not want to over salt it as it is so new. So now I will have to find a local breeder for SP.

They were between 60 and 100mm, not really tiny fingerlings. I was only putting 10 fish in at a time, so I did not think that I was overstocking.

The system is an IBC, it was cycled with all water tests good and vegies growng well on seasol before fish went in.

At no time did ammonia or nitrites increase, after fish went in, PH was /is around 7.6 > 8

It seems to me that GP get their fish from all over the place, hence great oportunity to introduce all sorts of stuff.

I have since found out that it is illegal to use FORMALIN on fish for human consumption.

Lesson learned, do not buy fish from a pet shop, get them from a hatchery!

Not entirely true... Formalin is an approved treatment method in aquaculture...

But there is a with-holding period before fish can be sold.... cant remember exactly... but less than a week from memory...

Oh well, it seems impossible to know all the rules, one tells you this the other tells you that, who knows!

Does not change the way I feel about being sold fish that the sellers know may well die sooner rather than later.
