This is why i use a filter in my system. I clean this out every two weeks and remove 20L of sludge which gets put on my giant bamboo and fruit trees.

Excuse me for asking, but what does a place like that cost in Aus? I'm looking to retire next year and want a smallholding - I believe it's called a hobby farm in Aus - in Portugal/Europe but looking at some of the places you Aus people have maybe I should think Aus?

Any comments?

property in aus is pretty expensive even some of the cheaper couple acre blocks in brisbane QLD your looking at $500,000 aud which looks to be by the currency exchange 3241836.363989 Chinese Yuan however that much is, unless your looking at flood effected areas you can sometimes pick up property further west for $300,000 but growing conditions are harsher.

G'day Bluefin, they are Black Night brushes which I purchased from Aussie Koi WA.

I've been doing some work on my extra grow beds, hopefully they will be online next week

Also I've moved my pump from the sump and put it into the fish pond, adding another 3500L into the system, might have to go get some Red Fin and put in there next week.

Cheers

Bit of an update. System is now about 15,000L in total. I have 4 GB's all planted, + 1 that I've left as a trough. Hopefully get some foam for it next week, but only intend on covering 1/2 the area as I want to keep the algae growing in the other half to feed the glass shrimp and mullet. System is very stable and easy to care for.

Went out side last night to see how many shrimp are still in the trough and got a bit side tracked. Ended up getting the video camera out. Went up one side of the trough to get a rough idea, though its not very focused but you can see the numbers by their eyes lighting up. Then decided to look in the pond and then the sump.

Perch are already slowing down on their tucker, water temp was 13 deg yesterday morning and 18 deg in the arvo. Looking forward to picking up my trout next week.

Got a phone call from a bloke I worked with three years ago this morning. Do I want a water chiller unit for my fish, plus a 2.4m x 1.5m fiberglass pond and 6m x 10m pond liner for free. So I was around at his place 10 minutes later. Grabbed the fiberglass pond and the chiller unit. Now my brain is working over time thinking of ways to use it.

It measures 750mm long x 400mm wide x 650mm high. Nameplate details say it draws 5.5amps FLC and it works perfectly.

So now I'm thinking of putting a couple of IBC's in the coolroom in my shed with a bio filter and the chiller unit to hold a few trout over summer.

My coolroom is made from 150mm freezer panels and is 7m x 8m, part of which has a 4m x 3m room and a 2.5m x 2.5m bathroom in it. The remainder has a pool table in it which never gets used. So I think its time to sell the pool table!!!!!! And now I have a new project
