Hey howdy!

I am part of a non-profit urban farm in Albuquerque, New Mexico. (www.growingawarenessurbanfarm.com)

We are investigating installing an aquaponics system and learning the do's and dont's with the intention of helping others in the future. As I searched for information on the internet, I came across your forum and joined.

I have 2 males, 5 females.
2 - 55 gal tanks, stands and lights.
1 small grow bed filter. The whole set up to get you started.

Hello, I quickly read through your link good information, I found this that implies talapia are a good choice for the area

New Mexico has a large number of fish species with aquaculture potential. There also are several non-native non-indigenous, or exotic, aquaculture species with proven potential that could be raised in New Mexico. These species include tilapia, the Chinese carps, and penaeid shrimp. This section will discuss, in general terms, the culture methods and markets for these exotic species.

I was in cedar crest, nm a few weeks back and saw IBC containers for sale. They have a saturday flee market next to the grocery store in cedar crest. This guy parks a trailer full of those totes, he asks 150 per container. Anyway if you dont have one yet, you might want to check it out.
