Does that mean they are reproducing in the system Faye? Or would they be unfertilized ?

No sign of any roe... and not an overly large amount of fat.... just a big healthy fish...

And no Bull.... they wont reproduce in an AP system....

(P.S... doesn't look like any egg re-absorption either)

I didn't mean fat unhealthy. Just big.

I rarely see fish in the wild in that kind of condition.

It looks delicious.

I know of someone who had a few SP left over in a tank (old aquaculture set up) that they left with water plants and stuff left in it. It was up the back of their block and kinda forgot about it for quite a long time. One time they had visitors staying and one of them said how long have you had all those little fish in the tank up the back? Yep... it was full of SP fingerlings.

Yep... it was a big fish... and delicious...

Virtually stretched across the baking tray (oven width) ...

Had rib bones that would make really good tooth picks...

Not a usual occurrance.... must have been some optimum freak of nature... :dontknow: ...

Inspired by you Colin... but not sure I followed your recipe...

Just wrapped it in foil.. stuffed with spring onions, some ginger, and butter... drizzled with soy sauce... thrown in the oven... 180 for about an hour...

So how was the flavour Rupe???

My wife steams the fish for 20mins - boiling water.

She stuffs the gut cavity with Spring Onion and Ginger whilst steaming - lays fresh Spring Onion and Ginger on the fish when removed from the steamer - then pours 3 Table Spoons of HOT OIL over the fish - and lastly 2 Table Spoons of Soy Sauce before serving.
